Not so long ago, No More Robots has released the SPIRITTEA game for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Game Pass, and apparently, its debut turned out to be very successful: on the very first day it reached very good indicators and became a profitable. During the first week, Spirittea revenue amounted to $ 1 million, and the number of players on all platforms reached 150 thousand. The profit received in the first week 3 times covered all expenses for the development.
The developer on his X-Profile noted that it was a very interesting release, especially because, "where the game was the most successful". According to him, as a rule, games are better sold on Steam, but it seems that the situation is changing.
In the case of Spirittea, it was Steam "weak" Platform in terms of sales: 80% of the game from the game was on Xbox and Switch. In his opinion, the reason is that Steam is increasingly attracting AAA publishers, which forces the audience much more favorable to large releases.
I think that the reason for this, at least partly, how in recent years the Steam assortment relative to console trading floors has developed. Much more AAA publishers began to release their games in Steam, without the need to release them on other PC platforms. In turn, Steam has more AAA publishers, which means that more attention is paid to large releases and less – small. The situation has not changed on consoles. Moreover, on Switch * less * AAA, since Switch cannot cope with the latest new classes of the AAA class. So at the start of Spirittea easily entered the bestseller charts on Switch and stayed there. That is, while Steam sales, naturally, began to fall, sales on Switch remain stable, since people learn more about the game thanks to the lists of the best -selling games.
According to the developer, already at the start of the game was available in Gaame Pass and enjoyed great success there. According to the developer, the game not only interested many players, but many also decided to buy the game, testing it in the service.
As always, in Xbox Game Pass was very useful for us. Actually, Spirittea was supposed to exit in 2022, but after the transaction from Game Pass, we decided: let’s make it even more and better, and therefore put it up until 2023 and added more than 100 hours of content. Over the past week, more than 100 thousand people played the game in Game Pass, and we heard how many said that we bought it on Steam or Switch after playing the Game Pass version. In general, for us everything went just wonderful.
