The first development diary The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will tell you about the creation of Middle -earth

Daedalic Entertainment has released the first diary of the developers for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, in which the vision of the Daedalic Middle -earth and familiar places and characters in it is considered in more detail. Gollum tells the original story, the action of which takes place eight years before the events of books and films "Lord of the Rings". This is a unique opportunity for Daedalic to present Middle -earth, not like any other. This first diary of developers gives an idea of how this Middle -earth looks like this.

The first diary of the developers begins with the recognition of the biggest problem of the creative team, which is that the game has three target audiences. It is focused on fans of original works J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson’s films "Lord of the Rings", and on fans of video games in general. Leading artist Matias "James" Fisher notes that Daedalic is working on creating a style that "Everyone likes it", Balance between the classic visual effects of epic fantasy and the ability of Tolkien to substantiate fantasy in reality. However, in essence, Gollum will be a Daedalic vision.

Daedalic describes its approach as "Fabulous realism" From the point of view of Gollum himself. The 3D artist Diana Varro describes how characters and creatures may seem more friendly or threatening, depending on what Gollum sees them. As a result, a kind of "distorted reality" all that Gollum sees as a creature from a shadow that has fallen into the world is much larger than he imagines.

Daedalic says they respect the source, but at the same time uses the opportunity for original ideas if they appear. The Great Spider Shelob is one of these examples, described as more harmonious and feminine, but undoubtedly as monstrous as the one that was seen in the films "Lord of the Rings".

Gollum is an obvious object of attention for Daedalic. The developers’ diary refers to the search for a balance between the predatory half of the Gollum and the more friendly half, which is a laugh. Visually, he will be similar to the well -known fans of Gollum, but will also be represented in a new light, as Daedalic tells its original story.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is released on May 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and the Switch version will appear later.
